Established in 1994, Mountain Colors has been dedicated to serving the needs of consumers and contractors in and around the beautiful Crested Butte area. Since then it has grown from a single person run paint store to a full blown Paint Shop and Lighting + Hardware Retailer. Recently the Paint Shop and the Lighting + Hardware Shop have made a transition into two spaces because we have just outgrown the space on Belleview. Come visit us at the Paint Store on Belleview where you can get color help, Benjamin Moore Paints + Stains, sundries and more as well as in stock lighting + hardware. Or make an appointment to visit Kim in Riverland to place orders for lighting and bath, cabinet, + door hardware.

Our customers are our neighbors and friends, and we are trusted us to share our expertise and provide superior products and outstanding service. Our trained professionals are skilled home projects experts who can help you every step of the way no matter the size your project!

Unlike chain stores where size and volume make a poor substitute for quality and experience, at Mountain Colors you will be welcomed by helpful experts who know you personally. Every project is important to us which is why we are here to offer advice and provide the right products so the project is done right the first time! Come in and experience the difference. We are a boutique paint store that offers our Crested Butte clientele more than just what you would find at a normal "paint store". Besides getting high quality stains + paints and the advice to apply those products correctly, we offer color consulting and paint + stain matches, all in a beautiful shop.

As an independently owner Benjamin Moore Paint Store, you will experience a level of service you thought no longer existed while supporting our local community.
ABOUT US
ABOUT
JACINDA MAHAN
Originally from Missouri, Jacinda graduated from Western State Colorado University in 2015 with a degree in business management. Jacinda joined our team in 2016 and is quickly learning the ins and outs of a very complicated and technical business. She is a trained certified paint and colorist expert, but also helps run run this small business with her business knowledge. She has a very important job of ordering all of our paint and sundries which basically means she is magical and has to predict the next days sales. It’s a tough job that doesn’t always seem very glamorous but is extremely important in our busy retail environment!

When Jacinda isn’t at the shop, she is planning weddings + events with her new business Kefi Events all the while diligently working on home projects on her home with her husband Tim! You can also find her with her adorable pups Rossi and Lemon hiking, biking, skiing, doing what she loves in this gorgeous area!

ABOUT
GREG FLYNT
California native, Greg, bravely joined our team of women in the Spring 2018. Greg is extremely handy and enjoys doing his own projects at his own home. This gives him a ton of experience with our products so he can pass on his knowledge to our customers! Greg and Jacinda together magically run this paint shop, guess what everyone needs before they need it, all during a crazy raw material shortage driving sales up and supplies down. Yikes!
When he isn’t at the shop, you will find him visiting his family in Lake City, dirt biking, making pottery in his studio, skiing, and just enjoying the many things the Gunnison Valley has to offer!
ABOUT
Mallory
Zimmerman
We are so happy to gain a new part of the team in such trying times. Mallory comes from a little state known as Michigan. She has tons of experience in all realms of customer service but is new to the paint side of things and learning quickly! If you don't leave with a smile after Mallory greets you at our front counter, you are dead inside. No but seriously her energy and passion is contagious which we all need right now!
When you don't see Mallory's smiling face at the counter mixing your paint, you can find her searching for brown pow on her mountain bike.

ABOUT Owner
Kim raines
I moved to Crested Butte literally one day after graduating from Colorado State University in 2002. My family vacationed here since I was born and I wanted to spend a year after college in Crested Butte to decide how I planned to use my psychology degree and what my expectations were for my future. However, as many before me, I found it impossible to leave. I fell in love with the lifestyle and the community of this town, met my husband and started a family. As luck would have it, I came upon Mountain Colors in May 2004 in the employment column in the Crested Butte News. The job was meant to be a fun summer job while I searched for a “real job”, yet it became my new passion – color and design. I had always felt lost in the professional side of life until I let my creativity take over. Finding a way to keep that creativity alive became a priority. That was the main reason I purchased the business from the previous owners in October 2006. The design aspect of this business challenges me daily as I try to stay on top of new and upcoming products and design trends. And the small business aspect of this business challenges me in a whole different way as I try to stay competitive, reliable, and profitable in the building industry.

When not in the store, you can find me skiing with my Husband Bryan and 2 boys Hugh (14) and Bode (11) in the winter, biking in the summer, and just enjoying the lifestyle we all work so hard for in Crested Butte!
